Mission
Our mission is that each team has to learn about elements of space and space travel, as well as six different body systems (circulatory, digestive, muscular/skeletal, cardiovascular/respiratory, excretory, and nervous), students will design a product that will help astronauts travel to Mars from the criteria and constraints.Students will take the information they have learned about how body systems work on Earth, as well as in outer space, to construct a product that helps counteract a difficulty astronauts have with a specific body system while in space or on Mars. Students will have the opportunity to design this product using the engineering design process with materials provided by teachers as well as any materials they may wish to bring in. The design process will allow students to combine their creativity with their subject matter knowledge to solve a complex problem. We think NASA should invest in our product

Criteria:
Constraints:
- Student capsule groups must consider at least 4 different systems with at least 3 valid sources of research with citation in a team folder.
- Teams will complete a Daily Debriefing Sheet which will be kept in their team folder.
- Teams will complete a Design Process Team Sheet for each step before being allowed to move on to the next design step.
- Teams will create a website in Weebly that will be edited/shared with all members of the PBL team.
- The website must include the following pages
- The Problem: description of the problem being solved (CEO)
- The Product: description of product including why it was created, and a 3D model of the product (SE)
- Materials and Projected Budget: description of materials used and reason for use including projected costs (CFO)
- Why Our Product: explain why NASA should invest in your product including a short video presentation of the product made in Pixorial (COO)
- Research sources and citation should be included on ALL PAGES
Constraints:
- TIME- daily and weekly deadlines must be met or students will need to work outside of class time
- Material must be listed on a Material List sheet before ordering. Any material added after March 20 must be brought in by teams.
- All items of the criteria must be met before the students may upload their web site.
